In 2007, Day’s Jewelers was among the first retail jewelers in America to join the Responsible Jewellery Council. RJC is a non-profit organization that has established a set of best practice business standards for the global jewelry industry across all channels including mining, manufacturing, wholesale and retail. It is the only organization in the jewelry industry that requires a third party audit to achieve certification and members must be re-audited every three years. Day's was re-certified in 2012, 2015, 2018, and, most recently, in 2021.
Our customers have become increasingly concerned about where our products are sourced. They want to be assured that our diamonds were not used to fund terrorism or to overthrow legitimate governments; the chemicals used to refine the precious metals in our jewelry were disposed of properly so not to cause harm to the environment; slavery or child labor were not employed to manufacture our jewelry.
Ensuring that our products have been responsibly sourced is a priority for the Day’s team. Identifying the source of gold and gemstones is very difficult because the majority of the raw products we use to build our jewelry come from other countries. In 2005, the Responsible Jewellery Council was formed in London. The RJC mission is “To advance responsible, ethical, social and environmental practices, which respect human rights, throughout the diamond and gold jewelry supply chain, from mine to retail.” RJC members include mining companies, jewelry manufacturers, gemstone cutters, and retail jewelers from across the globe.
